Spider veins are common problems faced by both men and women. Fortunately, spider veins respond well to a variety of treatment options.
At Dermatology Centers of NEPA, we perform sclerotherapy and laser vein treatment to improve the physical appearance of your skin. In certain situations, the best results are obtained from a combination of the two techniques.
Smaller veins are treated with the injection of a chemical directly into the problem vein. In this simple in-office procedure, veins are injected with a sclerosing solution, which causes them to collapse and fade from view. The procedure may also remedy the bothersome symptoms associated with spider veins, including aching, burning, and itching. Multiple treatments may be required depending on the size of the veins and the area being addressed.
Laser Treatment for Spider Veins
The Cutera Excel V is a dual wavelength (532 nm and 1064 nm) laser system that is used for the treatment of benign vascular lesions, including telangiectasia (very small vessels) and spider veins. Excel V laser treatments are designed to diminish the appearance of spider veins to help improve your skin’s appearance.
Many skin conditions manifest in the form of broken or abnormal blood vessels in the skin. The Excel V laser works by administering laser heat to the abnormal vessels, causing the vein walls to collapse and close. Over time, the vessels will no longer be visible, resulting in a significant improvement in the appearance of the legs. Although many patients see an immediate difference, it can take several weeks to months to see the final results of our vein treatments.
During the vein treatment consultation, our experienced providers will evaluate the size, shape, color, and location of the leg veins to develop a treatment plan that is specific to your needs.
