Facial redness is a very common skin complaint. Sun damage, rosacea, aggressive skin scrubbing, some products, and even just having fair skin can cause capillaries, the smallest blood vessels on the face, to become enlarged. Over time, a large number of these “broken” capillaries can lead to a persistently red face.

At Dermatology Centers of NEPA, we can improve the appearance of broken capillaries with vascular laser and light-based treatments. By gently heating the capillaries during treatment, facial redness is reduced over a series of treatments with minimal recovery time. The result is a more evenly toned, radiant complexion. Laser and light-based treatments are fast, with most treatments sessions lasting about 30 minutes. You will start seeing results after the first session. Depending on the individual, several treatment sessions may be recommended to achieve the best results. Most people do not find the treatment painful, with only minimal discomfort. The laser pulse is often compared to the snap of a thin rubber band. After treatment, a sunburn-like sensation and some minor and swelling is common, but will resolve rapidly. In the weeks following treatment, you will begin to notice clearer, revitalized skin.

The Cutera Excel V laser is a state-of-the-art treatment option that is clinically proven to treat a wide range of skin conditions with excellent results. The Excel V laser targets redness, rosacea, and broken blood vessels (telangiectasias) to help improve your skin’s appearance. The Excel V laser works by administering laser heat to the abnormal vessels, causing the vein walls to collapse and close. Over time, the vessels will no longer be visible, resulting in a significant improvement in your skin’s appearance. Although many patients see an immediate difference, a series of treatments is recommended, along with daily sun protection to help maintain the results. Learn more about the Cutera Excel V laser system.
